Artful Bag Challenge

For June's Artful Bag Challenge we were supposed to make a handbag out of something that was not a handbag.

I recently made a Whimsy Pouch for Tee's challenge.  We were supposed to cut an empty paper towel roll in thirds, but I just used a toilet tisue roll.  So I wondered what sort of handbag I could make if I used a whole empty paper towel roll.  I slit the towel roll in half lengthwise, folded it, and then glued the sides together.

I've been working with western themes for the Gingersnap challenges, so I guess I'm still thinking this way!  I covered the 'bag' with paper that resembled leather.  I used some gold embossed paper for the sides and the bag closer.  A vintage button holds it together.  I braided twine with silver cord for the bag's handles.

  8. Wow. What a tranformation. If this was a competition to guess what the bag had been made from we would all still be guessing. Brilliant. Hugs Mrs A.
