Dress Up 2010 - Dress for July - Happy Birthday to Me!

July 2 is my birthday.  For my July dress in the Dress Up Challenge, I decided to re-create a dress from my fourth birthday.  The dress was light blue, and had lots of ruffles.  This dress is made of tissue paper and has bond-paper scallops.  I did not have a butterfly on my dress, but  wish that I had!

I remember this dress very clearly because I have a photo.  This photo includes my best friend and myself, all dressed up for my party.  That's Sue on the left with the big smile, and me on the right, looking a bit shy, as always.  The plastic pearl necklace and bracelet I'm wearing were a gift from Sue.  When we grew up, Sue and I were in each other's weddings.  Sue now lives in Columbus, Ohio.

FINDING

I made a littlel piece of jewelry for this card - including a Swarovski butterfly. The background was made with the tissue paper method. I also used a rubber stamp.

The beautiful tulips were painted by Katherine Kline, a very prolific artist around the turn of the century. She usually painted flowers; but also painted fruit, birds, etc. I love her postcards. This card utilizes the tissue paper technique with silver ink.

Kimono

To create this card, I searched the Internet and found many really interesting Kimono patterns. Also, many interesting kimono fabrics. My Kimono was made by modifying a couple of patterns I found. I now have a template, so I will probably make more. The background is the tissue paper background I love so much, using gold paint.

Am I Blue?

I love to make humorous cards. I also love cats. This card combines my two loves. The background is made with the tissue paper technique. The 'paint' coming out of the can, and pooled around at the baby's feet was made with Tulip's Puffy Paint.
