Pauline Frederick - Movie Star

This is for Ginger Snap's Once in a Blue Moon Challenge - GCSP07.  I chose to work with former challenge GC21 - Movie Stars.

I created an altered coaster honoring silent screen star Pauline Frederick.  I love the way Pauline is posed in this photo.  She had a startling beauty. She was a Broadway star before she turned to films, and was already well in her thirties when Hollywood beckoned.  Her movie career expanded to include talkies and she made her last film in 1938.

I made the celluloid out of transparencies.  I used Distress inks over top of a gessoed surface on the card.  Crystal stickles on the flowers.

Another Beautiful Gift

Imagine my surprise when I unwrapped the ribbon that Misses Peach sent me (see earlier post) and found out that it was wound around a gorgeous ATC card called "A Season of Cats!"  This card is just too beautiful for words.  It is made with a packing tape background that is beautifully painted.

Thank you again, Misses Peach for brightening my day again with your gorgeous creation!

Valentines! Valentines! Valentines!

I went on a Valentine-creating jag last night!  All of these Valentines are covered with transparencies.  I got a beautiful pad of paper as a gift and scanned it to make the transparencies.

The first Valentine is made with a tissue-paper background. This couple is one of my favorite Harrison Fisher drawings.
This couple from the lat 1800's is such a beautiful, earnest looking couple!  When I see old photos like these, I long to know who they were, where they lived, what their lives were like.  This picture also used a tissue paper background.

Now, this picture is a REAL mystery!  Click to make it larger and check out the wedding attire that the happy (?) couple is wearing.  I know it was the mode not to smile when being photographed, but the groom in this photo looks utterly devistated!  But the most interesting thing about the photo is the groom's 'boutinniere.'  I have seen a couple of wedding pictures from this period showing grooms wearing this sort of decoration.  I have no idea what it is!  Does anyone know?  The bride's dress is just lovely!
I call this Valentine "College Sweethearts."  This couple looks young and starry eyed - especially the girl, who looks almost giddy with love!

Ah, Love's Passions!  The image of this lovely couple from over a hundred years ago still can touch our hearts!

For the Order of the Opus Gluei Challenge #18

The challenge at the Order of the Opus Gluei was to somehow involve music in your card. I found this vintage sheet music image, "Lucky Lindy." This is a song I have known since I was young. I know all of the words!

The card (center) has a transparency overlay. The picture on the left is the sheet music (with a wonderful pic of Lindbergh I added). The words to the right are on the transparency. These are the words to that wonderful song. If you want to hear it performed as it was originally sung at the time of Lindy's historical flight, go here. Unforgettable.
