Summer Tree

This is a companion painting to go with Autumn Tree.  My daughter has Autumn Tree hanging in her home and she thought it would be nice to have paintings of the tree through all four seasons.

Two cards with a masking tape background for a swap

I didn't want to put too much embellishment on these cards - I wanted the gorgeous masking tape transfer background to show through.  The tutorial for this great background is here at Lesley's Harmony Road Studio.

Two shabby chic cards for a swap

ATC Card for my friend

The card starts out with cardstock, to which I glued fabric.  Then I whip-stitched around the entire card.   Embellished, affixed the tie and - voila!

Reckless Ruthie's at it again

This card is for a swap with the theme "Bridges."
The bridge is made with a strip of papyrus and some string.  The background is painted in watercolor.

Gothic Art Challenge - Fabric

I glued a piece of curtain lace to a piece of stiff fabric.  Then I stamped the tree images using Stazon Saddle Brown.  I then hand-beaded one of he trees, using three shades of beads.  I used an ink marker to color the clouds and skies.

Dress Up 2010 - Dress for July - Happy Birthday to Me!

July 2 is my birthday.  For my July dress in the Dress Up Challenge, I decided to re-create a dress from my fourth birthday.  The dress was light blue, and had lots of ruffles.  This dress is made of tissue paper and has bond-paper scallops.  I did not have a butterfly on my dress, but  wish that I had!

I remember this dress very clearly because I have a photo.  This photo includes my best friend and myself, all dressed up for my party.  That's Sue on the left with the big smile, and me on the right, looking a bit shy, as always.  The plastic pearl necklace and bracelet I'm wearing were a gift from Sue.  When we grew up, Sue and I were in each other's weddings.  Sue now lives in Columbus, Ohio.
